Or, rather, gutturally grunts "METAL!!!"
Either way, the tour comes through Lawrence and hits the Granada on May 2. Also on the bill are Norweigian black metal act 1349, Ohio's Skeletonwitch, and South Carolina's Lecherous Nocturne. People are already hyped about this on Blabbermouth, so expect tickets to disappear.
Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! It appears that Cannibal Corpse are working on new songs for their next album, according to the band’s bassist, Alex Webster, who spoke to some site called RockSins.com which I’d never heard of before.
In the interview, Alex said that Cannibal “have no plans to tour in 2011. We are currently home in the Tampa Bay Area writing our next album; we’ll record it in September, so that will leave us with an early 2012 release.” After that, Webster says the band will most likely tour.
I know a lot of people think Cannibal Corpse have softened with age, and I hear people say things like, “Cannibal has released the same record for ten years now.” I disagree. I think without Cannibal, so many of these shitty bands currently dominating “the scene” would never have existed and when it comes to gore-infested death metal, Corpse has essentially written the fucking book.
But Webster admits that Cannibal Corpse are maturing with age, and even commented that the less graphic nature of recent album covers has happened naturally, and “helps to ensure [the albums] will be available in record stores.” After all, Cannibal has to make a living, and while they are motivated by that, too, it’s “our love of death metal” that “is still the strongest driving force,” he says. “We really feel that we have yet to make our best album, and we won’t be satisfied until we have made something that we can consider our masterwork. We may never get there, but we’ll keep trying.”
